Orgryte may need a major renovation of Gamla Ullevi, which is the club's home stadium. The arena has several identified issues, including that it is not sufficiently anchored, which causes vibrations when the audience jumps on the stands. According to a report from the arena operator Got Event, a solution to the problems, combined with an expansion of about 5,000 new spectator seats, would cost between 1.6 and 1.8 billion kronor. There is also a cheaper alternative where only basic reinforcements are carried out. The cost is estimated to be between 400 and 500 million kronor. – It's very large amounts and in the end it will be a political question which path to choose, says Got Events CEO Lotta Nibell. If a major renovation becomes a reality, the work can start as early as 2030. The project is expected to take two to three years, which would mean that the operations on the arena would have to be moved to other playing fields during the construction period.
